Another mysterious blinking light post!

Recommended Posts

On the days I work I still have to look at the night sky when it's clear.

This morning, I noticed a light I guessed to be a satellite. As I followed it going East it would disappear, then close to 12 seconds appear for a second or more, then disappear again.

I've seen iridium flares, perhaps this was junk tumbling.

I watched it blink three or 4 times before I stopped watching.  Everytime, it was right about 12 seconds till it reappeared.

I thought the last of the Iridium sats had been deorbited awhile ago.  Maybe that's not correct.  Anyway, I'd guess there are plenty of other sats that flare.

The ones that I wonder about are the seemingly stationary orange ones that slowly fade out.

My suspicion would be a tumbling rocket body. Last time I saw one I was able to find it on Stellarium, so mihgt be an option for finding this one?
