Can i put my telescope on another mount?

Around a ago year i bought my first telescope and it was a newtonian telescope and it was equipped with an eq2 mount without tracking. I recently have been saving more money up and i want to get my feet wet in Astrophotography.

Now i want to buy a HEQ 5 or an EQ5 (with a handcontroller) but i was curious if i could attach my old telescope to the mount or if i needed to buy a whole another telescope.

It will be possible. You might need a compatible dovetail bar to attach the telescopes mounting rings to.

If you let us know the exact model and make (or an image is even better) then we should be able to give you a definite answer. The Skywatcher mounts support Vixen style dovetails so if your scope already comes with one or has provision to add one then you are good to go.

Generally the reflectors sold with EQ2 mounts don't have a Vixen dovetail. A photograph of the telescope rings and the connection to the mount would help us clarify this for you.
