Sony DSC-H5 T-ring adapter

Recommended Posts

Hello, i have recently found a 16 year-old sony camera that my family had. It is the DSC-H5 model. I have been trying to find a T-ring adapter for it to connect to my 12" dob but couldn't find one. If you have any experience dealing with such sony cyber-shot cameras let me know. Any help is appreciated 👍

I Hi @luka

I have just been looking at some images of the mentioned camera and it looks like it is going to need more than a 58mm adapter ring!

I have an Olympus C-2040 ‘Camedia’ [image below] and to attach it to my ‘scopes, it requires a CLA adapter [also shown in the same image and is the CLA-1 for my camera - the other item is a conversion lens]. The CLA adapter for my C-2040 screws into the camera body and has a T-thread on the other end.

note: CLA = Camera Lens Adapter

Olympus and a few third-party manufactures made various types of CLA adapters for the ‘Camedia’ series digital compact cameras. The CLA adapters are/were not interchangeable with every ‘Camedia’ model. Therefore if you changed or upgraded the camera, you also had to purchase the appropriate CLA adapter for that model. The CLA-1 is compatible with the ‘Camedia’ C-20xx series only.

Not sure whether other digital compact camera brands/manufacturers or third-parties made OEM CLA adapters or adaptations for all digital compact cameras, other than the universal digiscope/camera adapters.

Hello, thank you for all the replies, I'm new to astrophotography and theese T-rings. I will post a picture of the camera and measure the zoom lens as soon as i get home. It'll take about an hour and a half

The hole where you put eyepieces in (i forgot how its called) for my telescope is 2 inches but i also have a 2"--->1.25" adapter, forgot to say that in my initial post

Took longer than expected. I measured the camera lens (first picture -my hand with the rules was shaking so thats why it might be a bit off) and as some of you said, the thread is at 58mm. (seen on the second picture). So this should mean that all 58mm T-rings should go with my camera right? Keep in mind im very new to theese rings and cameras

"So this should mean that all 58mm T-rings should go with my camera right?"

Probably 58mm.

And the filter thread is 0.5 mm, 0.75 mm or 1.0 mm pitch, depending on the diameter of the filter thread.

But you're not looking for a T-ring.

T-rings/T2 Adapters are the specific description of adapters for removable lens cameras.

Hello Michael,
I'm sorry for the confusion but aren't T-rings for attaching cameras to telescopes, or is it that i cannot remove the lens from the camera, in that case, what kind of adapters should I look for?
Thank you
Luka

This type of adapter is probably the one to use

this adaptor is for a phone though, i need one for a digital camera.

No, that one is for a digital camera. The camera is attached to the platform using a standard tripod thread and the bracket it clamped to the eyepiece. Unfortunately your camera might be too big/heavy for that type.

anyway, I just looked at the reviews and someone said "It was advertised as, universal, it does not work with my camera. My lense extends when the camera is turned on, it bumps the scope and closes back up. There is not enough room for adjustment. I want to send it back but haven't located my receipt. It is a great concept and am anxious to find one that will work."                my camera's lens also extends so it might be the same case for me. it is a little below 600g
