DBE (Dynamic Background Extraction) would normally be used before you stretch the image. Placing sample points around the edge of the image on areas you want to be a  neutral dark grey. Whether this works well on stretched images I don't know. You will need to adjust the 'Tolerance' and 'Minimum Sample Weight' in order to place samples on highly coloured background areas. Don't forget to select subtraction as the 'Target Image Correction' mode.

Don't use auto generate samples which creates a sample grid over the whole image, but place the samples manually. As it's a starless image you can make the 'Default Sample Radius' higher like 15 to 20 pixels.

Image centre is looking good by the way. 🙂
