Any info on 1980s Vixen / Celestron 102fl f9

Has anyone had any experience of the Vixen / Celestron 102 Flourite f9 scopes made in the eighties?

I am thinking of buying one that is for sale locally and I have heard that they are as good as the Tak 102.

Any info would be great.

It`s £800. In very good condition. Do you think its worth it?

Sounds a little bit expensive if it's just the OTA.

If it's mounted on a Super Polaris it's about right.

No, it`s just the OTA. I already have two SPs one manual and one driven. The manual is for sale on Ebay at the mo.

The OTA is better than a Tak FS102 it has a cult following in the states and they fetch $1500 just for the OTA!!!! I`d say £800 is cheap for such a sought after "classic" refractor!!!

Thanks for that Alan, I heard they were a good scope. This one is the black Celestron version of the Vixen.It comes with a set of rings and a 2" back. Do you think that makes a difference to the price?

No Bob its exactly the same OTA!!! This is the sort of scope thats a good investment (it has lengedary status, the views will blow your socks off), you`ll never loose on this IMHO....

Theres a Tak FS102 on Buysell atm but its double the price of this one and the Vixen is the better scope!!!!!
