ρ Aql area

I'm just putting together a map for this area, including Delphinus. I can't help noticing there's about 40 easy doubles within 2° of ρ Aql, mostly from the Chevalier catalogue. Odd to find such a high concentration in a small area.

There's a couple in there from Struve including a tight one. I wonder why he didn't pick up all these others?

Hi Michael

From experience some of the later double star observers were slightly over optimistic on the magnitudes of the pairs. 

I had an email conversation with Brian Mason about how much fainter Jonckheere doubles are compared to their listed magnitudes in the WDS..

This may have something to do with it.

I don't bother with J doubles. I find them up to 2 mags fainter than they are listed at. I've not looked at the Che ones yet.

I think the Che ones are not as bad as Jonckheere ones. 😊

But I think they still a bit fainter.
