 Agree with scousespacecadet , if you can do it then do it.

Made   redundant at 49 from a skilled building trade , paid off mortgage and took up a delivery driving job still F/T. Five  years later reduced hours to four days then 18 months later down to 21 - 24hrs over a three day weekend.  I have nearly seven  years to retirement so eventually will go down to 14hrs a week and keep working during retirement for two days , keeping the jobs benefits  are worth while with the cost of living.
