bonsai
Hi all i have dsi c which is colour but want more detail on planets which is best out of dsi 2 colour or dsi pro b/w with filters? Thanks Nige:icon_scratch:
Psychobilly
The Meade DSI's are not necessarily the best option for planets... to help overcome the image degradation caused by bad seeing conditions etc your better off capturing frames at much higher frame rates as "video" and processing them using soemthing like registrax...Ideally you want a high frame rate uncompressed video stream to capture the most detail so the Imaging source AS cameras are probably a better optionThe Meade DSI's make great guide cams in the longer term though Peter.... blinky
I have to agree 100% with what Peter says, although my DSI-C did produce a pretty good Saturn a year or so ago!
Psychobilly
Indeed they can produce very good results given good atmospheric conditions and If you have one use it... what I wouldnt do is go out and buy one for Planetary use... there are better options...Says the man who bought an LPI, DSI IC , DSI II C, 840K, spc900.........and lately an Opticstar 318CU-T...Peter.... Psychobilly
Uncompressed frame rate is probably more important than resolution...although given enough "wonga" and a decent PC you can get both....Peter...
