Which filter to use with a webcam?

I've read that to get the best out of my Neximage webcam, i should use an IR filter, but i'm a bit confused as to which type of IR filter is the correct to use- whats the difference between an IR cut filter, and an IR/ UV pass filter for instance? Also, would a baader neodymium filter do the same job, as i see it is listed as now having IR cut?

Hi Stephen,

Welcome to SGL. You need an IR cut. The IR pass is for bright objects and/ or poor condidtions, it cuts off too much light for general webcam use.

The standard UV-IR cut off filters will do the job, and I think they are cheaper.
