White light solar - 11th July 2022

I took these very quickly yesterday through the FC100DC. Normal configuration, ie Baader CoolWedge and binoviewers at around x100. The seeing wasn’t brilliant but it was good to be out there.Just handheld at one eyepiece using ProCam 8, with some tweaking of the RAW image in PS Express. Further tweaking of the four crops. Quite grainy but not too bad considering.

Actually I’ve just reprocessed them from a different starting frame and I think these may be a little better?

Looks excellent! Maybe a silly question but is the gaininess solar granules?

I’m never quite sure Malcolm. There are time when I think the granulation does show up in images quite well, but not sure in this case how much is just noise.

It's a bit like when folks post pictures of the "Horsehead" as if taken from the 'other side' of Orion ...
