Skywatcher Replacement Crayford Question

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Looking at one of these for my SPX and the current Crayford is driving me mad being low profile (Its fine if your an imager) also one of my eps wont focus correctly.

Looking at this

Skywatcher - Skywatcher Newtonian Focuser 1.25/2 inch

Sure its cheap, but chas is mega thin on the ground at the moment. I need to understand 2 things. Whats the base & screw hole dimensions?. Also it looks like the focuser is sitting on another plate (by the photo from flo) do you get this part also?.

My current crayford base is 90mm x 90mm square, and the screws (from the middle to the middle of each screw) measures 80mm

Thanks

Rob

The Skywatcher bolt pattern is 85mm apart so you would have to enlarge the holes in your OTA slightly. The plastic plate under the focuser is just a filler piece to match the OTA and isn't really needed.

Here's the installation instructions for the Orion Crayford (same focuser).
