Early morning Venus (11/2/22)

Recommended Posts

I was up early to take the dog out for a walk and I could not resist taking a shot at Venus with my new camera. 8" Dob, ZWO ASI120mc-s, gain 20 and exposure 0.7ms, no barlow, preprocess in PIPP and stacked in AS!2. No further editing. The thin crescent appearance looks great.

Nice capture Kon

Thanks, that's great coming from you. By the way, I have noticed many imagers use UV/IR cut filters. Are they worth using/ or what is the benefit?

They are mostly used for colour cameras. say i wanted to capture the moon with a colour camera. Then you would use a IR UV Cut filter. Same for planets with a colour camera. Again you would use a IR UV Block or cut. ( same thing  )

If you didnt the colour would come out odd. Pink.

Dont confuse IR UV CUT With IR PASS

IR pass. 685nm or higher is for reducing the unsteady atmosphere.
