130PM Red Dot Finder

I've just set up my brand new Skywatcher 130pm, and had a little trouble aligning the red-dot finder. The adjustment screws didn't go far enough, so I've had to bodge it and stick a few pieces of tape in the front left corner, to sorta prop it further towards the right. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? Seems to work now, but still, it's a bodge job...

Check if the 'shoe' - the bit that the finder attaches to on the scope is loose. They often are.

Its easy enough to tighten it up - tip here is DONT put tools down the scope unless the scope is horizontal - that way if you drop stuff it wont fall into the main mirror.

You may need to shift the shoe slightly so the red dot finder can align - mine was shifted off to the left a bit when I bought it.

yes, slightly aline the shoe then your red dot adjustments should sort out the fine adjustments, there should be no need to hold it in place with tape as once set you need not touch it again.

when i got mine the stem bit on the bottom was on backwards colud not allign it till i turned it round. is perfect now
