AstroLandscapes #30 - Local windmill Milky Way

Recommended Posts

I’ve shot the windmill outside my village many times, but never with the Milky Way, for which there is only really one composition that is possible without other distracting stuff in the frame.

On Sunday night I popped down there to get a fix of relaxing shooting, after a week of more challenging (and, honestly, stressful!) deepscape sessions.

The composition unfortunately points directly towards a motorway service station, which is about 3 miles away, so it gets a little bright towards the horizon.  But overall I’m glad to have finally shot it, and I imagine this will be my last shot of the lower parts of the Milky Way this season.
