Can i unscrew this bit of my Skywatcher RA finder in order to attach it to my ZWO ASO120mm?

Hi all,

Pretty simple query.

If you look at the image i posted, i know i can unscrew the blue bit, but that tube doesnt fit any of my adapters, barlow tubes or anything else, and neither do any of them fit/screw into the hole left in the prism block.

Looking up online, it seems that the straight through finder of this type CAN be unscrewed and modified as i wish, but i just cant seem to unscrew the blue part on mine in order to remove the red circled bit.

I figured id ask you fine folk before i attempt it again with more force..

I mean, if it doesnt come off, ill just use some gaffer tape, but thats not ideal lol.gif

Thanks in advance

I've used a straight through with a guide camera, but even that can be tricky getting the focus right and needs a long distance between the front of the scope and the camera.  It needed an adapter to screw the camera on to the scope.

Yours with the diagonal removed would be too short, I've not seen an adapter for that version.

Chances are you'll need some form of extension tube to achieve focus if you can remove the prism.  I use the 9 x 50 SW straight through finder with a QHY5 and the only issue I had was I needed to remove the focus locking ring in order to bring the objective lens that MM  closer. Other than that the finder / guider scope works well
