Hi Dave, what happened at first was i started getting a burnlng smell coming from the mount and it started moving erratically ,i had to change the motherboard it was badly overheating, after i did that the mount wouldnt go to the switch position in RA.I recently changed both RA and DEC motors also but it didnt change anything for RA still wont go to switch position,DEC goes to proper position, mount runs off a regulated power supply, went to factory settings on hand control even bought a new hand control incase that was the problem.

Hi Sean

Not a CGX owner, but as I understand it:

You position the mount into the Home position.

And since you have changed so many parts, I believe you will need to set this as the Home position in the handbox.

Then carry out a Star Alignment.

If the mount will then not return to the Home position when commanded, and carries on past in RA, then there is a RA encoder problem.

But I would have thought that should have prevented a successful Star Alignment.

Hi Michael,i will try as you suggest when i get some clear skies.I dont think it is the encoder because i bought two new motors and even swapped them around when the RA wouldnt go to switch position, the DEC works as normal on each motor, hopefully clear skies will come along soon.

Hi,its when i first turn on the mount it says press twice to go to switch position which is what you have to do  when starting, then it just slews way past the switch position until it can go no further, but when i press the back button then press go to home it goes to the home position with no bother. When i am using celestron CPWI you have to move scope to switch.
