Camera captures with tripod and stacking

Software that can auto-align individual frames can help the trailing, but i've found that it tends to get confused by anything terrestrial in the image - e.g. if you have a tree and sky, it tends to auto-align on the tree rather than the stars and the trails are back. So you may need to crop to make sure you only have sky.

Taff, I've been imaging while I've been in New Zealand with the DSLR on a fixed tripod. I usually take about 8 or 10 subs, 20 to 25 secs at 800 or 1600 ISO Camera lens 18mm at F5.6.

I stack using ImagesPlus which will handle field rotation. A freebie program that will handle rotation is Deep Sky Stacker.

Here's a link to my album on SGL that has a couple of DSLR on fixed tripod images (last 2 in album)
