Hello, I wonder if anyone has had any experience with the EQAlign program. I'm tempted to start using it for polar alignment, at least. Does PHD help with polar alignment, too?

Tried it ages ago but it kept crashing my PC, Im waiting on a newer release.

I haven't even downloaded it. I thought I'd stick with astrosnap for polar alignment and general fiddling about but this one looks like it has a cleaner interface (but no english language manual).

My pleasure chaps ! Don't forget to post how you get on- I may be tempted, though currently I use the eqmod polar align. Does a magnificent job, but not designed to do the drift align type alignment that this does.

Thanks Karlo, I may or may not use it at all, I don't tend to use any polar alignment routines, not sure if it's cos I'm lazy or whether it's because I don't see a pressing need, that coupled with the fact that I've probably been out twice in the last 6 weeks I tend to clutch onto my 'astro' time under dark skies and use it purely for imaging.

Still, I did this with EQMod, I was resistant to installing and using it to start off with as the HEQ5 Synscan mount performs well enough with autoguiding + I wanted to learn how to use the synscan so I could appraise how good EQMod actually is (very).

I've not used it yet for similar reasons, it appears to take up a bit of time. Eqmod polar align does a great job and when added to eqmod, guiding I can't really see a pressing need.

looks like there is a fair bit of setup involved, although I'm guessing once you've put all the scope/site stuff in you don't have to repeat that part, just push the go button.

Karlo I havent come across the EQmod Polar Align couldnt see any reference to it on the EQmod site. Any chance of a link?

if you download the latest version of eq , v116j that for sure incorporates it though I think Chris added it into v116h.

Thanks Karlo I will take a look when I get accepted by the Yahoo group. That was one hell of a painful process. I find it really annoying how much carp they want to know just to take a look at a forum.
