Advice on small telescope.

Hello, Currently, I am looking for some small (this is important) and manageable telescope, that I can mount on a good photographic tripod, which I already have, and that provides good visual images with good contrast and sharpness, where I observe, my backyard, The conditions are usually not good,light pollution bad, so I have the doubt which type of telescope can be better in my case, a Maksutov 90 or a small refractor ED of 70 or 80mm at most, what is your experience and opinion? I also like the astro observation. , watch birds and airplanes, ... Thank you Tico

I think that main question you have to ask yourself - what is typical range of magnifications that you'll be using.

Lowest magnification that Maksutov 90mm can provide is about x40. If you need lower magnification than that - go with short refractor. If not and you don't have very high budget - go with Maksutov.

Best to work backwards so to speak. Figure out wnat you would like to,observe then find a scope that will suit within your budget. You will get plenty of recomendations.
