Filters in front of a focal reducer flattener

Recommended Posts

Hi

I read that the image quality can suffer by putting the filter in front of the reducer/flattener

https://www.altairastro.help/info-instructions/faq/can-filters-be-placed-in-front-of-a-focal-reducer-flattener/

This is what I have always done, because its very convenient for me, but after reading above i'm wondering if my images have suffered because of this. I think i'll put the filter after the reducer/flattener next time and see if there is any noticable difference in the image

I use the Lightwave 0.8x Reducer, SW 72ed, ZWO533 and most of the time the l extreme filter.

Do anybody have any experience that if  switching the filter from on front of to after the reducer/flattener gives noticeable better images?

Thanks for in advance for any answers.
