ASIair to dslr

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm still debating over getting the ASIair but concerned that it won't be able to power my Canon 700d via a dummy battery. It seems that it requires a stepper cabling to get the voltage right. Does anyone know anything about this issue?

The asiair has usb outputs and 12v outputs so it will not be suitable for your DSLR. Just get yourself a dedicated battery pack with the correct output and dummy battery and your DSLR will last all night.

I got one from here.

This is the battery pack http://www.exprodirect.com/ex-pro-on-the-move-16000mah-rechargeable-battery-power-system-replacing-for-use-with-ex-pro-coupler-system-for-canon-nikon-and-sony-dslr-cameras..html

And this is the dummy battery to go with it http://www.exprodirect.com/ex-pro-canon-lp-e6-dr-e6-coupler-cable-for-ex-pro-rechargeable-battery-power-system.html

Will the dummy battery from FLO fit the dedicated battery pack that you suggest do you know, if so I will get one, thanks for that.

I cannot say I have seen the one from FLO. With anything like this you need to check the voltage your DSLR battery is then find the equivalent dummy battery and battery pack. For my DSLR there is a dedicated dummy battery that runs off 240v (obviously transformed down to the correct voltage). I then just looked for DC power packs with a dummy battery with outputted the correct voltage.

Apologies for  the error, I bought the dummy battery off Amazon and made sure that it was for my Canon 700d which i have used several times and works ok. I have returned the Dew Heater control and dslr charger because I am now about to purchase the ASIair. Meanwhile I have seen your reply regarding an 'On The Go' portable battery pack for dslrs and have purchased one so hopefully it will connect up.

Thanks for the advice btw.
