Lumenera Skynyx (2-0 and 2-1) cameras...

Hello all...  I'm looking at two Lumenera cameras that I've had for at least 10 years.  I got really good use out of them as planetary cameras a while back, but planetary imaging had to take a back seat for a few years, and now trying to get back into it.  But the Lumeneras best days may be behind them - apart from their basic spec, it seems Lucam Recorder is obsolete and other capture software (I've got FireCapture) don't seem to support them.

I think they are probably destined for sale, but before I list them, is anyone still using these, and if so, how/with what?  Their near relatives still seem to be used for microscopy, so I'm wondering what I should do with them.

Any suggestions?

I have a Lumenera LU070 which is basically a board level version of the Skynyx 2-0.  It’s been a wee while since I used it but I did use it for some close up solar work and I recall it worked with sharpcap.  So it should still be suitable for planetary imaging. I never used LuCam Recorder much because I only had the free version and it only saved in JPEG frames.

The pixel size is quite large so they are fairly sensitive.  You could even use one as an all sky type camera with a wide angle C mount lens 1.55mm.   I guess they are probably aren’t worth much these days so it’s a case of repurpose or sell for whatever you get 🤷

And SharpCap worked - thanks for the suggestion.  Considering their fate now that I know they work.

Good to hear Gerry.  Hopefully you can recommission them for some planetary work :D
