North American Nebula I never knew I had...

Recommended Posts

At Astrofest on Friday I had a chat with a very nice man who gave me a few pointers and a brief demonstration on processing images using photoshop.

I could not wait to get home and give it a try.

I have had a look at a few images taken with the astrotrac last year and found this single exposure of the cygnus region. As I began to play more detail started to come out, and I soon realsied that I had caught a reasonable amount of data including the North American nebula.

Just shows what can be pulled from nothing with a few tricks and enhancments.

As for the demonstration.... He showed the correct ways to "stretch the histogram using curves and levels" Sorry couldn't resist.

Having limited knowledge of the proper technical terms I will now draw your attention to the following site: http://www.astropixels.co.uk/ where the process is explained to you in a way that I could not...

all I can say is it works well. :(
