Starting Out

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!
I want to start out with astronomy - gazing and research. i am a complete beginner to the practical things in this. I do have basic theoretical knowledge of astronomy and cosmology.
Specifically, I want to get to observing those stars that we know very less about, and thus contributing to the science. Along with this, if possible, I wish to contribute in observing some objects like quasars and black holes if that would be possible with with a beginners telescope.
Thus, I would need some guidance and I hope that I'll get that from here.
Thank you!

Hi there, and welcome, the question of observing quasars and black holes are the subject of professional telescopes, however, galaxies and planetary nebulae etc are well within the reach of amatuer telescopes.  Good luck & clear skies!
