Meade Infinity 76

hi can anybody help me my wife bought me a Meade infinity 76 telescope i tried to set it up and could not see anything can any body advice please

Hi @Lynchy & wife and welcome to SGL. 

Did you remember to remove the objective cover/cap? ...it is surprising how often you forget something so simple.

Best to setup during daylight hours, so you know 'what does what' and 'what goes where' and align the finder scope or RDF on a distant non-moving target.

As you are in the UK, I guess you have not been able to look at any astronomical objects yet ? The cloud cover has been pretty much continuous. What were you looking at, and how far away was it ? The telescope probably wouldn't focus closer than a couple of hundred metres. (how annoying is it that the correct spelling of metres gets a wobbly red line ! Stupid spellchecker !)

So, are you seeing  light at all, however blurry ? If it is entirely black, then there must be a cap  on somewhere (business end of the telescope, or bottom end of the eyepiece ?)

ive took of the caps and there is a light blurr i was trying to look at the moon before it went behind the cloubs i will look at it tomorrow in the day light

Hi @Lynchy welcome from an ex "Manc" now living in France since 15 years

try to focus during the day on a distant object a few miles away electric pilon etc or maybe the Betham tower if you can see it... then at night you should not far away as when focusing the eyepiece does move a long way in-out
