helix: can anyone help?

Hi everyone

We were in a small town yesterday and even though the lp was enough to cancel the milky way, we decided to have a go anyway.

The nebula was only 30º above the horizon at the meridian so we did about 40 minutes either side. This is the best I could do. Can anyone rescuse anything else?

Not sure why you decided to crop it like that?

In any case, data is rather good. There are some issues with flats, but I did not try to correct those. Here is one way it can be processed:

There's gradient to one side. So I took the easy option! You have however inspired me to have another go.

Thanks @alacant! I've been hoping to have a look at NGC7293 since spotting it in a German TV show with The Byrds miming "Eight Miles High".

Here's a rather quick process & an annotated version - lot's of faint galaxies, which I look forward to looking up on Simbad.

Three scripts in Pixinsight:- ImageSolver + CopyCoordinates + AnnotateImage

Or you could use astap, astrometry.net... probably others embedded in other software too.

Head-banging pursuit of that outer shell! (I wouldn't really chase as hard as that but this was just for the hell of it.)  I couldn't find much star colour but it isn't very intense in my long exposure version either.

What a nice image Olly!

Really bummed the Helix is way too low in my sky; would sooo love to image this myself.
