EQ4 or EQ5

Evening all,

I have just picked up an old EQ mount to use as a grab and go and am trying to identify whether it is an EQ4 or an EQ5 so I can then purchase a polarscope. 

Would somebody with an EQ5 mind measuring the bore of the polarscope chamber / polarscope diameter for me?  The EQ4 had a much smaller bore than the newer EQ5  

 

Also, would somebody mind please weighing their head as I believe the EQ4 is lighter?

For info, the bore on this mount is 25mm.  As you can see it looks like an EQ5 so externally very hard to tell

but surely the polar scope fits into the collar in your last picture and not the one you measured in the first?

Certainly looks like an EQ5 as mine both look the same as your pics.

I believe originally you could fit a straight through polarscope that went in that collar, but you could also remove that entire section and screw in a replacement - what I have taken out is essentially the same as the new finder fitting, just without the scope in place.

ok, not sure as both of mine have the collar but only one has a polar scope that slides in through the collar.

Whilst looking for a photo to illustrate this I think I may have found the answer;

Looks like the newer polarscope has a diameter of 24mm so should fit my mount.

hope it works out. On mine the polarscope itself is just the tube that runs inside the collar and around 17mm diameter.
