Need some help with focus !!

Hello guys, to be honest I am new in all this, my friend gave me all his equipment since he move to Europe and was not able to take it with him, is a Losmandy G11 ecuatorial mount with Gemini 2 computer and explorer science ar102 refractor, I tried to attach my Nikon d3300 but I don’t know why is no giving me a picture, camera setting are Manual mode, ISO 800-1600 shutter time 20-30 seconds and nothing !!! Don’t know what I am doing wrong but I know the it is a hell of equipment and is not working for me 😔, pls any idea ???

Start by trying it out during the day, using live view.

That should allow you to work out whether the problem is with the scope, the camera, the focus or something else.

Hi and welcome to SGL, you may need an extension to reach focus, have you tried in daylight ?

As everyone says, checking you can achieve focus in the day is key. Then try the moon or a planet and then maybe DSOs. What have you tried to shoot so far? 20 seconds is quite short for a sub.
