Here Comes Comet Neowise!

Recommended Posts

I finally saw it! I took these images tonight, single exposures at 140mm, 55mm and prime focus. It was difficult to see with the naked eye from my location due to light pollution, but binoculars and the telescope brought out the greenish core and expansive tail.

Nestled under the Great Bear (Big Dipper), it's not hard to find if you have reasonably dark, clear skies. It's at a respectable magnitude of 3 (as of July 19) and will be fading as it moves farther from the sun (even though it's getting closer to us right now: perigee is on July 23).

Time to go comet hunting! :D
