Hello..

New mount to me. Having fun with alignment.  Please note I’ve had SW mounts and think I can use a SynScan handset.
Using in alt AZ mode.
Tried 2 star alignment. Struggling.  Once alignment susccessful and I pick new star to skew to the scope is always pointing too low. ??
RA seems ok as scope is aligned in the right direction of object  but too low.
Have noted on handset after alignment a message appears - Caution - previous NPE settings applied ??
Any ideas as to what’s up doc ?

Thank you. John

Thanks John. I’ve packed up now as no joy on this whatsoever.
Going to have to resort to reading the Manuel like I should have done in the first place.
Talk about naffed off right now 😥😥😥

Hhmm. After a quick look at the manual I read as follows.

The scope should be mounted in a way so that it is on the right hand side of the mount -

pretty sure I was using it on the “left” side of the mount.  Think this may have been the issue.  When I’m thinking I’m pointing it north, it must have been out by quite some margin.
Clutching at straws comes to mind

Hey ho  - love this hobby - honest

Do make sure it is balanced and the clutches are tight. If you can’t solve this after reading the manual come back.

Hello J.  I shall return, as not optimistic I’ll sort it at the mo.
Just another learning curve with this great hobby. Lol

Update time. Managed to set up earlier. Rather unexpected !!
Early evening. Made sure scope on “right hand” side of mount for alignment unlike last attempt - left.
Was still daylight so went for daytime align. Wasn’t expecting great things.
Aligned on the Moon - bit tricky as not a light source as a star but was pretty close. Then asked the mount to goto Venus. Happily, not bang on but within striking distance. Fingers crossed next attempt is as I wish - on target.
Really puzzled that the mount is way off if scope not on correct side of mount pre alignment ???
Onward and upward I guess

Left side / right side is unlikely to be the issue. Maybe worth checking this next time you set up to see if it is. Make sure you fully turn off between setups to clear the memory.

Glad it is sorted.
