m81 m82

I have spent all day trying to get any colour out of my data but finally managed this. Still not happy especially with the core of m81. Maybe around 4-5 hours with my 130pds and asi1600.

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

What exposures is this made up of?

L,R,G,B all 120s at 300 gain.

Just to confirm that is 120s @ a gain of 300? You will be massively over exposed with those settings, hence the lack of saturation?

Yeah I have seen that but I do get a bit bogged down with the maths. I guess I just left the gain at 300 because 1. I was doing narrowband 2. I only have calibration frames for 300 gain.

I have not really messed around properly with the gain settings due to limited imaging time and have been using it at unity gain for an age but might try some 0 gain imaging at the next chance I have.

My sky according to to CO is 21.26 mag.
