First attempt at the Moon

Purchased a used Canon 600D last week with a few different lens options. Picked up a Tripod and had my first attempt at the full Moon on April 8th. Used the Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens and shot at 55mm, ISO 400 and 1/500 exposure (took a few pictures and stacked them with autostakkert).   Found it pretty hard to get good focus on the Moon, but it was pretty low in sky, so maybe that had something to do with it. I tried going up in focal length later but image was pretty blurry.

Any tips on better focusing?

I have a T-ring adapter in the mail for my scope so will be trying to get some close ups once that comes in.

Sorry if this is stating the obvious but are you using the zoom function on the view screen to aid focusing. As in focus, then zoom in 5x and refocus, then zoom in 10x and refocus again.

Yes, I was using the zoom function on the live view screen.

I still struggle with focusing, sometimes what I'm seeing through the camera isn't what comes out in the image.

Doesn't help I wear bifocals!!

Keep at it and most of all enjoy what you are doing.

There are so many opportunities just waiting for you and your camera.
