EKOS + Guide Cam

Hi , I seem to be having a little problem with capturing an image with Ekos and my GPCAM3 224C.

I've tried playing with gain settings and exposure time and all I seem to get are blank white screens on capture and looping.

Its only when I put my hand over the guide scope that anything can be seen.

Tried it last night and all I got were dark grey shots.

Anyone any suggestions if it might be a settings issue?

Hi

Yeah, that's right; there's too much light. You need to be under the stars in the dark. You can connect the camera in video mode if you want to check it during the day, useful for getting close to focus on a distant object. You can do it directly in INDI or just swap the cables and use EKOS' capture. To test in daylight, just set the gain to zero.

Cheers mate, figured it out in the end.

Used it in main camera, set the exposure to pretty short and hey presto.

It might also have been a numpty error, plugging in before launching EKOS instead of after launch.

Now to test fit the SX Trius and filter wheel.

You can connect everything up beforehand no issue. I'd suggest using PHD2 for guiding. You can set the gain manually in the INDI control panel in KStars, which will probably help - it might have defaulted to the max gain. Be sure to save the configuration on the INDI driver when it works.
