Eq6r pro controlling with laptop and stelarium

I cant her the mount to connect. Cant take pics at min either as not with mount. 

It shows com 3 in port when I go to set up eqmod window. Check on device manager shows port 3 in use when mount plugged in. 

But the mod thing doesn't seem to pick up the mount itself.

set the baud rate to 9600

then rescan in  eqmod.

is the eqmod cable plugged directly to the mount?

Cable runs from mount to laptop directly

cool, just check the baud rate in eqmod , also, when trying to move the mount in eqmod make sure the movement speed is set to 4 in this drop down menu

Changed to 9600. And thank the lord. The thing moves!!

So that's that bit. How do I do the stellarium bit. As you can my imagine. My other half is over the moon with me trying to sort this out tonight. 🤣🤣

Go to the settings, click on load at startup, restart stellarium, go back to the telescope control settings and click configure and ADD

Once I get to the screen you show i click configure. Then get this screen. What do I need to do then?

scroll down the left hand side to telescope control and click load at startup, restart and then go to configure

What do I choose here? As I'm trying things but mount not moving at min in stellarium. Moving using eqmod no probs.

I click ok on those settings. Then get this window.

Which version of Stellarium are you using ?  The latest version 0.19.3 has an option to use ascom on the first screen.

You need the latest version of Stellarium. that looks like an older one. you need to see this on your screen, the ASCOM option.

How do I get the new version? I just downloaded it a few weeks ago now.

just go to the site and download the latest one. it's updated all the time. always worth checking.

Well, thats when we move into plate solving. APT integrates plate solving well. It's "fairly" straight forward to set up and once you have you'll never look back

There is a sync command in stellarium somewhere. send the mount to the star you want, if its off then maually move it with the ascom controls and when on target sync. 

 

its worth the effort to get plate solving sorted though. its in the point craft settings in APT. Even points you to the download locations too.

Ctrl+Shift+1 will sync the scope , every time you sync it works with EQMOD to do its own star alignment/updates its position. after a couple it should be pretty spot on.

So had a clear few hours last night to try have a play. All set up. Polar aligned. Fires up the laptop and all programmes. Mount connected to it all. Chooses moon as object to slow to before doing alignments. As thought I'd see how far out it was. The mount set off. Ended facing total opposite direction.

check your lat/lon in eqmod. make sure longitude is negative if you're west of grenwich. also make sure the mount is in the home position BEFORE you switch it on.

So one pic is my current GPS location. The other eqmod.  Are these correct? From looking at eqmod window is there anything leaping out that looks wrong?

looks ok, are you switching the mount on when its in the home position. whatever position the mount is in when its switch on it assumes it is in the scope pointing towards the pole star and weights down.
