EQ5 connecting to computer

Hi guys just a quick one 

can I connect my laptop to my EQ5 mount via the RJ45 through my Lan port RJ45 on the laptop .

Synscan mounts are connected through either the supplied serial data cable to the handset (via a usb-serial adapter} or an EQDir cable directly from the laptop to the mount, replacing the handset and using EQMOD as the mount control software, but not by LAN port to mount. Sorry.

OK thanks didn't want to blow anything so thought I'd ask first.

Does anyone know a work flow for setting up your scope with EQMOD and APT

by this I mean how do you go about setting up because when I tried it it seemed way out and I had to use the handset to align and then it would plate solve but before this it was way off and would not solve.

I'm confused, how have you connected the mount to the laptop ?? 

As Peter has said you would need some form of USB to Serial device to connect the two, so that EQMod & APT can 'talk' directly to the mount (preferably) or via the handset (when put into direct to PC mode)
