SCT collimation and focal reducers

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a C8 sct and I have noticed that when I use with my f6.3 focal reducer it shows as significantly out of collimation but without the collimation problems seem only very minor.

Is it that the scope really is badly collimated or could it be an optical problem with the focal reducer?

Will I get more accurate collimmation if I do it with the focal reducer fitted?

thanks for you help.

My first thoughts are that collimation/ alignment are more "sensitive" at f 6.3 than at f10, but then I though what about alignment of the reducer...

Try re-collimating with the reducer and see what the results are at f10???!!
