  1. Thanks, it is easier with a mono video camera to get good resolution and contrast. You can get some good images with a DSLR though, take a few images and pick the sharpest ones out to sharpen.
  2. Managed to get out this evening for a relatively rare bit of lunar imaging. This was taken using a TEC140, with 2.5x barlow and Altair 174M camera. It is a composite of 8 panels each of which are are the best 15% of 1000 frames stacked in Autostakkert 3 and the mosaic put together with Microsoft ICE. Thanks for looking.
  3. We have had some good clear nights and as last nights looked to be the last for a while, I took the opportunity to image the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae. The image was taken using my Altair 533c along with my Skywatcher Equinox 80 and the Altair Triband filter. It was captured using Sharpcap with stacking and initial processing with Siril and final tweaking with Photoshop. The image is made up of 510 30 second exposures. Please with how this has turned out from my Bortle 8 skies.
  4. Quick capture from earlier this evening. Taken with my TEC140, 2.5x barlow and Altair 290c. This is the best 15% of 5000 frames using Autostakkert3 and tweaked with Registax6.
  5. This is my first galaxy picture with my recently purchased Askar 180 imaging scope. Love the widefield it gives. This was taken using my Altair 533c camera and an Optolong LS-Pro filter from my bortle 8 garden in East London. The image is about 4 hours of 1-minute exposures stacked and processed in Siril with final tweaking in Photoshop, it was also cropped and tilted a little for framing. I am really enjoying learning how to use Siril and am finding it gives much more colourful images than my previous processing techniques. M31 - The Andromeda Galaxy
  6. Thanks to the wonders of Siril, I have finally managed to generate a Hubble palette style image from my one shot colour and triband filter data. I have over processed this a bit so the stars are a bit funny. This was taken using my Telescope Service 60mm scope, a 0.8 reducer, Altair 533C and the Altair Triband filter. this was around 3 hours of data captured with Sharpcap. Really looking forward to using Siril more to generate Hubble and HOO style images.
  7. This is the first time I have managed to image Jupiter this apparition. Seeing seemed very steady around 3.15am last night. This was taken with my TEC140 and a 2.5x barlow, I used my Altair 533c cropped to 752x752 which provided a steady 40 frame a second. This is the best 20% of a 1000 frames, stacked in Autostakkert3 and tweaked in photoshop. You can also see Ganymede close by to Jupiter's disk.
  8. Pleased with how this turned out last night given we are stuck with astronomical twilight for the next 8 weeks down here in London. This is around 3 and a half hours of data on the Butterfly Nebula -IC 1318. This was taken using my Telescope Service 60mm ED telescope, a 0.8 reducer and Altair Astro 533C camera with a Triband Filter. This was captured using Livestacking in Sharpcap 4 and I tweaked the output from the live stacked image in Photoshop. Hope to keep going with imaging in astro twilight with the Triband filter over the next few months until darkness returns.
  9. Most if the time I use around 950 gain and 30 offset in Sharpcap. With the Triband filter though I do often up the gain to 1800.
  10. Made the most of the last night with any astronomical darkness down here in London for a couple of months and got 4 hours of data on the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070). This was taken using my 102ED telescope, a 0.8 reducer and Altair Astro 533C camera with a Triband Filter. This was captured using Livestacking in Sharpcap 4 and I tweaked the output from the live stacked image then tweaked in Photoshop. Hope to keep going with imaging in astro twilight with the Triband filter over the next few months until darkness returns.
  11. Lovely warm May day for solar imaging. There follows the sun in Hydrogen Alpha (Lunt 35) two versions one processed to show prominences and another surface detail, CalciumK (TEC140, Herschel Wedge and Altair CalciumK filter) and White Light (TEC140, Herschel Wedge). All were imaged using the Altair Astro 174M. Processed Autostakkert3 (best 10% of 1000 frames) and tweaked in Microsoft Photo. HA with prominences HA - surface detail CalciumK White light
  12. Managed to pop out to do a bit of solar imaging at lunchtime. There follows the sun in CalciumK (TEC140, Herschel Wedge and Altair CalciumK filter) and White Light (TEC140, Herschel Wedge Baader Solar Continuum filter). All were imaged using the Altair Astro 174M. Processed Autostakkert3 (best 10% of 1000 frames) and tweaked in Microsoft Photo. CalciumK full disk White Light full disk
  13. Lovely day for solar imaging. There follows the sun in Hydrogen Alpha (Lunt 35), CalciumK (TEC140, Herschel Wedge and Altair CalciumK filter) and White Light (TEC140, Herschel Wedge). All were imaged using the Altair Astro 174M. Processed Autostakkert3 (best 10% of 1000 frames) and tweaked in Microsoft Photo. Sun in HA Sun in CalciumK Sun in White Light
  14. Managed a quick capture of today's sun in hydrogen alpha. The capture was with my Lunt 35 solar scope, 2x Celestron barlow and Altair Astro 174M camera. Best 10% of 1000 frames in Autostakkert 3 processed in Microsoft photo to bring out prominences and surface detail. Thanks for looking.
  15. Good to be out in the sunshine this afternoon and managed to image the sun in Hydrogen Alpha, White Light and CalciumK. Hydrogen Alpha was with a Lunt 35 and Altair Astro 290M, White light was with TEC140 and Baader Herschel Wedge, solar continuum filter and using Altair 174M. CalciumK was with TEC140 and Baader Herschel Wedge, K-line filter and using Altair 174M. All are the best 10% of 1000 frames processed in Autostakkert 3 and Microsoft photo. Hydrogen Alpha White light CalciumK
  16. Not the best conditions for white light imaging in London with lots of haze taking the edge off the details. Still pleased to have imaged the monster sunspot group just emerging around the limb of the sun. This was imaged using my TEC140 and Baader Herschel Wedge and Altair 290M camera. Hope for clear skies later in the week for when this rotates into clearer view.
  17. Nice to be out solar imaging this morning, cold air meant for some pretty good seeing. White light images were using my TEC140 and baader herschel wedge. All imaging using my Altair mono camera. Each was a 1000 images stacked in Autostakkert3 and tweaked in Microsoft photo.
  18. Nice to be out solar imaging for the first time this year and good to see a reasonable amount of activity. White light images were using my TEC140 and baader herschel wedge and HA was with my Lunt 35. All imaging using my Altair mono camera. Each was a 1000 images stacked in Autostakkert3 and tweaked in Microsoft photo.
  19. Despite the strong moonlight I was pleased to catch Comet Leonard this morning. I had to use a triband filter to combat the Moon but it still shows up well at around magnitude 7. It is up in Coma Berenices at the moment and may hit magnitude 4 in a couple of weeks as it heads towards Arcturus. This is a short 5 minute live stack from Sharpcap using a 102ed refractor and Altair 533c camera. Worth catching if you have clear skies in the next few weeks. Comet Leonard
  20. This is a very star filled image of the open cluster M11 in Scutum. Imaged using a TEC 140 with 0.8 reducer, Altair Astro 294C and Optolong L-Pro filter. This is about an hour of 30 second exposures stacked and tweaked in Photoshop. I was amazed to see the enormous numbers of stars in this image, pleased to have captured such a dense patch of the Milky Way from my NE London Bortle 8 back garden. Thanks for looking.
  21. I have tried imaging this before with a DSLR with limited success and was keen to try again since upgrading to a cooled astro camera - Altair Astro 533mc. Given the light pollution here in NE London I needed to use an optolong UHC filter as the optolong L-Pro was not cutting it down enough. This was imaged with my Skywatcher Equinox 80 unguided on an AZ-EQ6, around 3 hours of 30 second exposures stacked and tweaked with photoshop. Pleased with how this has turned out given my London back garden skies, moving to a dedicated Astro camera definitely showing its effectiveness compared to my DSLR. Thanks for looking.
  22. Took the opportunity of the first gap in the clouds here in London for 10 days and managed to get 90 minutes imaging the Cygnus Wall region of the North American Nebula. First time I have focussed on this region but done quite a few widefield picture of the whole nebula before. This was taken with my TEC140 and Altair Hypercam 294C and an Altair triband filter. This was stacked in Sequator and tweaked in Photoshop to give it a more Hubble palette look. Really please with how this has come out and hope I might get some more time on it later in the Summer. Cygnus Wall
  23. To my surprise the skies cleared after midnight in London last night and as the transparency was good and Cepheus is rising higher I thought I would have a go at the Iris Nebula. First time imaging using my TEC140 and Altair Hypercam 294C after trying last year with my 80mm Skywatcher and Canon DSLR. Really pleased this combination has given much more detail and colour. 2 hours of 30 second exposures. This is the tweak of a saved live stack image from Sharpcap Pro using Photoshop. Thanks for looking. Iris Nebula - NGC 7023
  24. Managed a quick capture of the sun yesterday with my Lunt 35 and Altair GPCam3 290m. This is a two panel mosaic put together with Microsoft ICE, each is the best 5% of 1000 frames stacked with Autostakkert3, final tweaking in Microsoft Photos. Nice to see the sun is waking up and the new solar cycle getting into the swing of things. Thanks for looking.
  25. Sorry I got the orientation wrong. Here it is below the right way round!
