alacant
Hi everyone Trying to set the black level was difficult. Can't find black anywhere in this. Is there any? 2 hours no filter. 30 mins UHC. Thanks for looking and clear skies to all. 700d on 208 f3.9 : ISO800 Edited September 1, 2019 by alacant
wimvb
Nice image. I like the variation in star colour, and the blended dark and red of the nebula. As far as the black point or "neutral background" is concerned, you can take whatever section of the image that you like, as a reference. Sometimes I look at someone else's image of the same target to find a suitable reference point.
Star101
I like the depth in this image. You must have dark skies there

alacant
1 hour ago, wimvb said: black point Thanks. Yeah. I normally tap on the image where I believe should be black. In this case I had to adjust the level sliders to get anything which made sense. AFAICT and from your description, I should tap on the darkest part(?). Maybe levels is the place to do this anyway.
