Resetting Sky Watcher AZ-GTI WiFi is failing

I have the Sky Watcher AZ-GTI motor mount and have been having trouble connecting to it. Instead of broadcasting the SSID SynScan_XXXX it keeps broadcasting the ESP_14CD09 SSID. I cannot connect to that SSID as I don't believe that is an Access Point. I've left my motor on for 4+ hours (the amount of time the manual says it takes to reset the WiFi) but it just doesn't reset. I've tried this about 5 times and still not resetting. Is there anyway I can connect to it via a cable to force it to reset? Any other way to reset the WiFi? No device I have can connect to it (PC, Android, iPad).

Hey Lenscap, i came across that but in order to upgrade i need to connect to it. I'm caught in a catch-22 :(

Would i be able to connect to the RJ12 via a USB cable and upgrade it through a cable? (not even sure that kind of cable exists!)

Ii got it to work!!!

In case anyone stumbles on this. I drove away and parked in a large parking lot away from buildings. I wanted as little WiFi interference as possible. Using my iPad I turned on the AZ-GTI motor and hoped that I saw the SynScan_xxxx SSID appear. It did!! I quickly went into the SynScan Pro app, connected and found the motor mount. I then went into settings, and altered the WiFi settings. I kept the SSID as it was, i changed the security from Open to WPA/WPA2 PSK, changed the password to something i would remember, and finally changed the Channel to 11 since i noticed at home channels 1-9 were heavily used in my neighborhood (used a wifi analyzer app to research that).

I rebooted the motor and it was broadcasting the right SSID. I went home, turned on the motor and all worked!! I connected it to my computer and upgraded it to 3.20. My computer, Andriod and ipad devices can all see and connect to it successfully now.

I hope this helps the next weary sky gazer!

Well I’m afraid my mount won’t broadcast any network but the one beginning ESP... I’ve switched off the house wi fi, driven up the road out of range of any network, nothing makes any difference..

Its going back for a replacement because I’ve spent hours messing about with it. I’m pretty cross when it’s a known issue and there is a firmware update that solves the problem which should have been installed before the mounts are sent out.

New Mount arrived today with not a hint of connection issues I’m pleased to say!

Pity there’s no decent manual though!

Result ! Glad it's sorted.
