1600 pro desiccant replacement - when?

Just a quick and probably really basic query regarding the desiccant in the zwo 1600pro - how do you know when to change it?

I had my rig running last night and it fogged over about 1am. Something went wrong with SGP and it continued running the camera until 5:30am at -20c rather than warming it up and ending. I'm guessing running the camera in thick fog is not ideal.

Generally you will know it needs replacing when you get ice forming on the sensor. This tends to produce a dark patch in the centre of the sensor amongst other effects.

Apart from that if it not broken then don't fix it.

I have had mine about 18 months and have not had to do anything with it so far.
