bluemaxroe
Hi everyone. Just a thought, but has anyone replaced the dec motor from an eq3-2 mount with an "after market" better quality one? I am wondering how easy this might be. I have a st4 connection to both RA and Dec motors. The RA takes instruction well with a modicum of delay/slack being taken up first, but the dec has so much slack you could boil the kettle before you get movement in the right direction. Stats I have found say the motor should be: 7.5deg per step 76.2:1 gearbox ratio 65:1 worm gear If I can match, or closely match the gearbox and step degree, could I just replace? Any help fro. You geniuses would be very appreciated. Clear skies Andy
Dr_Ju_ju
Is it the motor that's not responding quickly or the mount ? If its the former I'd first check all connections between the board and motor, but if its the latter, you'll first need to adjust the mount for minimal backlash etc. There are plenty of tutorials around that can handhold you through the process. Stargazer33
A slight adjustment to the dec worm gear mesh might solve your problems?
