Can anyone give me a couple of raw samples?

Recommended Posts

Hi All - I am having some terrible problems and need to establish if my camera is broken.

I need to see a few example of "good quality" single flat frames (not the master) and a couple of good quality single light frames.
For the lights - preferably from the horsehead region - but not that important - just plenty of blackness rather than an Andromeda shot.

Ideally, these will be CR2 but any format of RAW would be great.

If anyone could upload some flats and lights I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it so I can see what I should be "expecting" from my camera.

Cheers All.

Mine is a modded 1300d canon.
But I dont want to mither - ive asked in detail in another thread about it and had no response - so im kind of taking the route of "what do I expect to see in raws" rather than "what the heck is this in mine!"

I can upload some canon 1000d lights and flats but they are at home on my laptop. If you don’t get sorted before this evening then I’ll happily send them to you.

That would be great Tooth_dr cheers.
I wont have it sorted - ive spent about 50 hours on this already - just cant get any answers, so many different opinions so the lights and flats would be a huge help, as they "are what they are" as such - no opinions required.

Cheers

Hi there

I've attached some lights of the HH - 600s (with Ha filter), along with some M45 subs without any filters 300s

Also the associated flats and bias.

These are from my modded 40d, which has the same sensor as the 1000d (I had one of those as well, but I don't have any HH images with it that I can easily locate!).   Hope they are of some use to you.

Adam

Hi Adam.

I apologise for the delay - thankyou very much for posting those raws.

I have slaved over them.

Your images are largely banded like my own.  In the seven sisters sample below I have yours on the left, mine right.
Removing the saturation shows the banding.  It is faint but visible on both.

I think mine is more prominent.

I have also done the same with a flat of yours and a flat of mine - again, yours on the left below - mine right.

In the flat in particular - you will see mine has many bands.

So i'm a bit torn now - I mean yours has the banding, others i have seen do too - but mine is more prominent.
(oh the uploads are so badly degraded that the banding isnt really showing in the seven sisters much - but its pretty clear still in the flats)
Do you reckon I have a problem or should I just shut up get on with it!!!
