Wobbly Cheshire - Collimation problem

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am fighting with my secondary mirror collimation on 130PDS for a while.

My last star test showed my collimation is quite good... or maybe even close to perfect.

So I decided to place my Cheshire back and make a picture to keep it as a benchmark.

I was a bit shocked what I saw.... my secondary was way off from the center... Complete ugliness!!!

The problem is a bit wobbly Cheshire... if I move it a bit, - all looks perfect again.

I use this one https://www.firstlightoptics.com/other-collimation-tools/premium-cheshire-collimating-eyepiece.html

As I understand, I was simply lucky with the collimation as stars do look good.

However, if I will need to do it again, - I will not be sure if Collimator is placed correctly...

How do you guys know it is placed 100% correct?

On F5 130PDS, a slight Cheshire offset and you do not see all 3 primary holders and even secondary looks out of center...

Madness...
