I am thinking could this poor photo taken at 8pm Monday have been Saturn,bright object close to where the Moon was ?.

If the bright object was just under the moon and followed it through the sky then yes, it was Saturn. Have you tried using an App on your phone? Stellarium is good or SkyView Free is a cheaper alternative. It also give you the path at which it will take through the sky.
