The Pleiades Star Cluster And Meteor- An Unusual Shot

I was very lucky to capture this image. In one of my subs I caught an amazingly bright and colorful meteor that wasn't even partway off the frame. And this is at around 100mm focal length! I haven't traced back where it came from, but I believe it is a Perseid.

Since stacking the images rejected the meteor I had to use layers in Photoshop  and the individual exposure to bring it back.

Although I didn't capture as much nebulosity as I had hoped, the meteor really makes this image unique, and I am quite happy with it!

Technical details:

61×60" exposures

Unmodded Canon 7d mk II

Canon 70-300mm f4 at roughly 100mm f4.5

Avx mount

Shot from Tierra Del Sol dark sky site.

What a great capture, so lucky :)

What's the canon 70-300mm like for widefield?

It's pretty good. As you can see from my picture, there is some aberration. Also, I wish it were a bit faster, but it's a good deal for the price.
