meade etx NOISE!!!

Hi all,

I've been using a Meade ETX 80 for some solar observing today.

OMG!!!!!

How the hell does anybody use these at night!

It sounds like a cat giving birth whist riding a vespa at full throttle!

I could never use that at night in a built up area.

I recently bought a skywatcher auto focus as my home made one was too loud but it was nothing compared to the ETX on even quite a slow speed.

just a sort of warning to anyone considering these scopes.

yes, they are a bit noisy, although I dont think mine is too bad and it should assure the neighbours that it isnt a burglar lurking about in the garden!!

:shock: The sound of a tuned up Vespa at full throtel is music to my ears, however still not as nice as a Lambretta Though none of my 5 cats have ever given birth on one

But do agree the ETX's are noisy

they are very good and beautiful scopes and if i have the money i would buy one etx125 wich is for sale for about 400€.-i dont mind to have two 125
