I have just gone through the same exercise - the belt type is HTD 3mm pitch, 6mm wide.

Bearings R Us sell a variety of belt lengths and stock appropriate pulleys if needed.  I recently purchased a 180mm belt and 12 tooth pulley from thyem and the belt fits the focuser pulley perfectly.

No problem :)

BTW, shortly after fitting mine to a 6" R-C scope, the supplied adaptor fell in two and dumped all my imaging kit plus OAG and new focuser onto the ground.  The three slotted set screws which hold the threaded ring in place were not tightened sufficiently  and the weight of the camera etc caused the components to separate.  Not sure what type of adaptor you have, but might be worth checking that it is assembled properly.

Same here - have built a few stepper based focusers and intend to try a  9 degree resolution, non-geared motor for my 6" R-C.  Just figured a way to mount it using the threaded hole for the tension screw.  I have also been making inquiries about  using two of the four small threaded holes for mounting purposes.  I reckon that the two outer screws lock the shaft bearings in place, but the inner screws are quite loose and do not seem to do anything.  I believe that the proprietary focus motor from TS uses some of these for fitting.
