Is this SN 2017eaw in the Fireworks Galaxy

Recommended Posts

I know this is fairly old news but I wanted to confirm it as I've not observed one before. Is this supernova SN 2017eaw?

This was taken during an EAA session back on the 9th of March. The supernova is circled. I think this is correct but I just wanted a 2nd opinion.

I can officially say I've seen a star exploding in another galaxy!

Pretty cool, huh?  I remember getting lucky shortly after I got my Skywatcher 200P and seeing one in M82 -  could only sketch that one, but thrilling all the same.
