Useful Jupiter information in Sky Safari

Recommended Posts

Sky Safari 5 Pro (Android) has some really useful information regarding the planets.

For example on Jupiter it will show it's current moon positions and it's rotation on the main map, I.e. it will show if the great red spot is currently visible.

Click on Jupiter itself and select "info" and it will also show when the next moon occultation/ transits will happen!

Yep, its a great app, same on iOS too.

Click on the clock symbol next to the events such as transits, opposition etc in the info tab and it takes you directly to that time.

When looking at Jupiter transits or grs appearances make sure you set sky safari to allow for the speed of light (settings>precession>light time = on) otherwise you will be set up for a transit at the right moment and then find yourself waiting a long time for the light to each you.
