M27, comments please

ISO 800, 4x2 min unguided, 2x2 min darks. No flats or stuff. Stacked in DSS using whatever settings it comes with and stabbed about in the dark with in PixInsight. Apart from obviously needing a lot more subs, what else needs doing? Constructive criticism required chaps!

That's a great capture. Constructive criticism? Maybe a slight bit of trailing but you often see it much worse with less than 2 mins unguided. A darker background would show it off better perhaps but that's just processing. All in all, I thinks that's an exceptional unguided capture. :undecided:

Actually I think you could get away with correcting most of that in photoshop with a certain mans astro tools.

Another trick I have done before where I want a little more definition that extra subs would provide is to save the finished image as a bitmap then make 20-40 copies of it and save them in a folder.. I then stack them in registax and adjust the wavelets again. with your image I would also adjust the gamma to darken the back ground more.
